Kayla and Tye met on an orchestra bus in middle school and began dating shortly after. Unbeknownst to them, their grandparents were already friends, making for a special connection once their relationship became official. After seven years of dating, Tye proposed right at home, and the couple celebrated with drinks and dinner with some of their closest friends.
The couple chose Cresco Expo Center, a rustic venue, for the reception space of their small-town chic wedding, and a color palette of navy, mauve, blush, and white.
Kayla found her dream dress at The Dress By Morgan Lynn, a small business offering one-on-one appointments and styling. Kayla wrote, "From the moment I walked into her bridal shop, I felt comfortable and relaxed... Finding my dream wedding dress was a breeze thanks to Morgan and her expertise."
The final selection was a fit-and-flare boho gown full of textured embroidery and tasteful sequins. The gown featured a deep-v illusion front, an open back, nude underlay, and removable tulle bows on the straps. Accessories included sparkling drop earrings from Olive & Piper and a flowing tulle veil for the ceremony.
Amber Gramlich Esthetics crafted a warm, neutral glam makeup look for the bride. Her eyeshadow was composed of soft, smoky shades, and the look was completed with sculpted brows, rouged cheeks, and a dark mauve lip.
Natalie Heffern of Cactus Mane styled Kayla and her bridesmaids with textured, low-updos, or braids. Kayla's hair was skillfully secured into a low bun, with wavy, loose strands framing her face.
The bridesmaids wore matching mauve, satin, cowl-neck gowns, and each carried a bouquet similar to the bride's, composed of white roses, blush spray roses, chrysanthemums, astilbe, and eucalyptus greenery.
For himself and his groomsmen, Tye selected navy suits from Leuthold Clothing Store. The whole look also included navy vests, white undershirts, brown shoes, and ties. Tye wore a white tie and boutonniere, while his groomsmen accessorized with matching blush ties and smaller blush boutonnieres.
Later in the day, for more casual photos, the groom and groomsmen sported matching custom hats with 'K & T' initialed on the front.
After tying the knot in a traditional church ceremony, the couple, their wedding party, and guests made their way back over to the Cresco Expo Center. Party Island Wedding and Party Rentals provided décor for the celebration, including linens and tablewares. Kayla & Tye also had custom elements like a cake topper, neon sign, sunglasses, and koozie favors for guests.
Guests enjoyed flavorful dishes from U2 BBQ & Catering, followed by a sweet moment as the couple cut into their classic two-tier cake from Norsky Cakes.
Before the final dances, Kayla & Tye snuck away for sunset photos with photographer Alder & Root. Reflecting on the day, Kayla wrote, "Our biggest priority was photography and videography to capture our day. We wanted to work with someone who made us feel comfortable and matched our style. Emily (Alder & Root) did just that."
Alder & Root provided a finished gallery in their signature style, embracing earthy tones, soft light, and preserving authentic, emotional moments for the couple.
For those currently planning their wedding, the couple advised:
"Although wedding planning is extremely stressful, and it is very easy to get caught up in the planning, remember to have fun. At times, I felt myself forgetting what the day was about—love and unity between two people. It is so easy to get sucked into the little details (that guests will not even notice) and sucked into the financial stresses and decisions. Your day will be special no matter what!"
